I was in Manhattan for a weekend and for some reason as I exited the subway and headed uptown, everyone was walking in the opposite direction.

Or that’s how it seemed. 

I was confronted by a sea of people, each walking with attitude and determination, to get somewhere fast (I think its the coffee)… and so, as I pushed my way through this endless crowd… I could see everyone’s face, their expression, their angst, joy and pain.

And it occurred to me, that despite the awkward and less than comfortable 20 minute journey (that should have perhaps taken half the time)… that I learned so much more about the people of that city than had I been walking in the same direction.
