At the heart of it

And because of my unconventional path and decades of experience across different fields, I am able to offer a unique perspective on music, songwriting, coaching & production to a wide and eclectic client/fan base.

In brief: I write songs, I produce, I compose music and design sound, I edit and mix audio, I coach and now and then, perform for one or for many.

I’m a musician who loves to tell a good story

producer-Coach-Mentor

After nearly 40 years of working and traveling around the world, writing and producing music for recording artists, labels, churches, network TV shows and indie film makers I can say with some authority that to be a good producer you need also to be a good coach and mentor.

And I enjoy being all three in one.

From block buster films to unknown indie songwriters, I love being part of the creative process and or, a larger creative team, helping to bring the dreams of others to life, or better still, to market.

My Bio

If you didn’t already know by now….

I am an Australian musician living and working in Los Angeles.😎

I come from a long line of musicians and entertainers. My father Ron Falson, a noted orchestrator and jazz musician toured with Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Sammy Davis Jnr and Stan Kenton. My mother Gill Falson was a singer, dancer, actress, theater director and radio DJ, hosting her own weekly Jazz program ‘Playing Favorites’ on East Side Radio. My maternal grand parents, Jack and Elvie Daniels were musicians and music teachers and my great grandmother Ruby Daniels made her living playing stride piano in country theaters during the silent film era.

And while I have enjoyed a long and rich career as a music maker my greatest success as a ‘producer’ can be witnessed within the creative output of my two sons, Sam Sparro and James Bowen (aka Droid Bishop).

My studio career began when I was 10 years old, singing with my siblings on the many jingles my father wrote and produced for network TV. At 19 I started working as a sideman on guitar for touring artists such as Tiny Tim, The Platters, The Drifters, The Ink Spots, John Farnham, Little Pattie, Daryll Braithwaite and others. Work as a studio musician would follow, then regular live television appearances and a season in the orchestra pit for Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ Sydney production of Cats. It was inevitable that I’d follow in my father’s footsteps and soon I was composing music for TV shows, documentary films, stage plays and radio jingles.

From 1987 to 1991 I was a member of the Totally Radical Band alongside David Holmes, Russel Fragar, Geoff Bullock and Darlene Zschech. During that time I worked as in an in-house producer for the Seam of Gold label and would write songs, perform and produce two successful albums in ‘Stand’ and ‘War’.

My international songwriting career took off in 1990, when my song All Honor was covered by Ron Kenoly on the award winning Gospel album, Lift Him Up.

In 1992 I released my self-titled album with the single ‘Good People’ receiving steady airplay on mainstream radio across the US and Europe. After signing a record deal with Broken Records (92) I moved to LA in 1993 and joined Maranatha! Music as a staff songwriter and producer. I produced the commercially successful albums, ‘Standing on the Rock’ and ‘Pure Joy’ and was subsequently invited to perform in Denver (94) for World Youth Day to honor Pope John Paul’s visit to The United States.

1995 saw the release by my Chris Falson and The Amazing Stories album which included many of my better-known gospel/worship songs, including ‘All Honor’, ‘Standing On The Rock’, ‘Come To The Waters’ and ‘I See The Lord’ The record also featured an ‘amazing' team of musicians and singers from the bands of Andre Crouch, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and the soundtrack to Disney’s The Lion King).

From 1994 to 1998 I wrote songs, played guitar and sang with the Maranatha! PK Band in over 30 stadium events across America and in 1997, along with Delirious?, Matt Redmann and Noel Richards, I had the honor of performing several of my songs at The Champion Concert at Wembley Stadium, London.

In 1997 I also formed ‘The Orchard’ label and released 6 solo albums ‘A Tree By The Water’, ‘For Dreamers Only’, ‘The Quiet’, ‘Prisoner of Hope’, ‘Flesh & Bone’ and ‘Rescue Me’.

In 1999, working alongside writer-director James Alexander Langteaux, I co-hosted and, composed much of the music for the award winning documentary “The Rest” (Best Documentary Rose d’Or Festival).

With a developing interest in producing film and video content I would become a founding partner in both IBN Sports, a pioneer in the production and distribution of sporting events via the world-wide-web and 3DRevolution, a VFX post- production house in LA. I also started working as a film producer and composer and partnered with 3 Ring Circus on several short films including The Release.

From 2002 onward I started writing and licensing songs and compositions to shows like Cover Me, Castle, October Road, Without a Trace, CSI, CSI NY, CSI Miami, NCIS, Las Vegas, Brothers and Sisters, Men in Trees, Tavis Smiley, Bloodwork, Yes Dear, King of Queens, Rescue Me, Criminal Minds, Numbers, Extra, Access Hollywood, Letterman, Ghost Whisperer, Ed, One Tree Hill, Late Late Show, 60 Minutes, The Early Show, Punk’d, Queer Eye and many more. Some of my other production credits (as composer, songwriter, sound designer, mix engineer & producer) include My Big Fat Greek Wedding, 23 Blast, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, A Buddy Story, Diamonds, Beautiful People, Clean Start, The Release, Cats and Dogs 2 and Immortals (VFX Producer). Some of my commercial production credits include Volkswagen, Apple, The Outdoor Channel, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Haier, MTV Exit, Imagine Communications and Avid.

As a production coach I have consulted for Apple on the development of the online tutorials for GarageBand, Logic Pro and Aperture and, produced coaching modules and videos for Avid, Line 6, M-Audio, PSP Audio and Lynda.com.

In 2006 I co-founded Sounds Dangerous LLC, a music production company based in Hollywood.

I currently divide my time between writing, producing and mixing music and sound design for clients (film, TV, indie-artists, authors, podcasters and record labels) and coaching songwriters, musicians and creative leaders on The Songwriter Workshop platform.
